IT DOESN’T TAKE MUCH

What shall I do this evening? I shall not pick blackberries, I shall roast a rabbit and bake a pie and blog a blog entry.

This beer I am drinking is called Summer Solstice, and it tastes creamy and cool.

The weather is cool too! 90s all week! Bike riding weather! Swimming weather too. Life is good again. The fires are almost entirely contained. Rejoicement! I can now hang my clothes on the line without them smelling of camp fire.

What do you do about pies dripping onto the bottom of your oven?

I can’t stop reading Harry Potter! I didn’t think I would like it! I also never used to like pie. People change.

Keith and I are coming up on our second anniversary. We haven’t shot one another yet. I think we will celebrate with a sturdy Cabernet and a viewing of that new Chihuahua movie. Then maybe some Hostess Snacks.

See? Anyone can blog!

I put tin foil on the bottom of my oven…. and Happy Anniversary!

Or you could stick a cookie sheet under the pie plate while you bake.

There’s also a great bottom of oven liner sold at Bed Bath & Beyond that catches all the drips from pie to pizza and it is re-usable (wash in DW). I have one in my oven and one in my propane grill to catch all the BBQ sauce and Mobley sauce goin’ down in there. Want I should send you one? Congrats on containing all the fires and having frigid temps. Dad

Let’s face it – your dad has it together in the cooking department! That thing sounds like a good anniversary present, and I might have to get one for my hubby for his birthday.

Glad you can swim again without the reverse hooka effect (that was good!)

btw – when are you gonna start your “commentary from the farm” column in the local paper?

I put a pan of water under the next pie and it worked well. I find that a cookie sheet burns the drips and is hard to clean. Tin foil still stinks as the pie cooks and the drips burn. Thanks for the inspiration!
There is already a blogger who uses the local paper as an outlet for her blog. I’d rather keep it the way it is and feel no pressure to produce anything other than the silliness I usually come up with.
