For the ranch! 85 acres! Why the hell not? He’s going to sell the eggs. That organic shit gets top dollar.

Wait. It just hit me. You have “a ranch” now. You can refer to home as “the ranch.” Remember when they were like, “Please don’t call it ‘the ranch’ to people who don’t live here.” HA! You showed them. You went and got yourself your own damned ranch so you can say “the ranch” whenever the hell you so please. I was just like, “Screw you! I’ll call it whatever the hell I want!” They didn’t like that approach so much.

I don’t remember them saying that. Another thing to add to the list of crazy things they made us do. Bastards. Yeah, I got my own damn ranch! How do you like them chickens?

nice chickens. i have only 4 myself, and two overly attached ducks. i would love to have a ranch with 61 (give or take a few) chickens. that’s a heck of a lot of eggs. he should expect to lose a few, chicks aren’t the hardiest little suckers. tell him to feel free to email me any questions about chicken husbandry, i’ve read an embarrassing number of books on the topic.

which breed are they, do you know?

Oh gosh, I don’t remember. He’s told me several times.
One died just now, actually. Keeled over before his very eyes while we were on the phone.

    Rayna,

    They are:

    Silver-Laced Wyandottes.
    Buff Orphingtons.
    Barred Rocks.
    Rhode Island Reds.
    Americana/ Araucanas.
Silver Polish – just for kicks. I have a weak spot for head-dresses.
